"The Korean War: 60th Anniversary and Australia's Involvement Explained"
Australian Defence Attache, Colonel Stephen Beaumont will speak about the involvement by the Australian Army, the Royal Australian Navy and the Royal Australian Air Force in the Korean War, the ongoing commitment by Australia to the United Nations Command and the United Nations Command Military Armistice Commission.
Col. Beaumont will also talk about upcoming events organised to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War on June 25.
Born in country New South Wales, Colonel Beaumont completed his tertiary Studies at the Australian Defence Force Academy and in 1987 was awarded a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History and Politics, graduating from the Academy as a Distinguished Graduate.
In 2003 Colonel Beaumont was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and promoted to the rank of Colonel in December 2008 and appointed J25, Headquarters Joint Operations Command in January 2009.
Colonel Beaumont has been awarded a Bronze ADF Commendation for his work at DIO and in Iraq from 2003-2005, the US Army Meritorious Service Medal in recognition of his service to JICPAC from 1998-1999, and a UN PKF Force Commander’s Commendation for his performance as the Headquarters Sector West S2.
Colonel Beaumont was appointed Defence Attach? to the Australian Embassy in Seoul WEF January 2010 for a two year appointment.
Colonel Beaumont is married to Frances, a former Navy officer. They have three children, a son, 11 and two daughters 9 and 5. He thrives on running, surfing and reading!
