[Chamber] G20 Australian Business Awards 2010 Guidelines and Application Forms

The G20 AustCham 2010 Australian Business Awards aim to recognize the significant achievements and contributions made by Australian and Korean companies involved in Australia-Korea and Korea-Australia business activities.
Semi-finalists and Awards winners will gain significant recognition and have the opportunity to elevate the profile of their businesses through PR and press coverage opportunities.
Applications are invited from:
> Korean firms and organisations with strong business links to Australia;
> Australian firms and organizations with strong business links to Korea;
** Applicants do not need to be members of the Australian of Commerce in Korea (AustCham).
** Applicants should not be government agencies.
CATEGORY DEFINITIONS
- Best SME: The Best SME award will recognize achievements made by a small?medium and micro enterprise as defined by the Korean Small and Medium Business Administration under Article 2 of the Framework Act on SMEs. Refer to the following link for guidance:

- Investment of the year: This award will recognize an outstanding investment by a Korean organization into Australia, or an Australian organization into Korea. Applications will be judged on size of business, innovation and broader economic impact.
- The Best Services Company will be one which provides professional services including, but not limited to, legal services; business consultancy; engineering; education; finance; accounting; and business facilitation;
- The Trade Excellence award recipient will have achieved significant sales through the import or export of products or services, or successfully launched a new product in its export market (Korea / Australia).
BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD
One of the category finalists will be judged by the independent judging panel as the 2010 Business of the Year.
CLOSING DATE
Applications must reach AustCham Korea’s office by close of business: Friday, 13th AUGUST 2010.
COMPLETING THE APPLICATION
* Please complete all parts of the application form.
* Supporting material such as case histories, advertising, catalogues or special promotional material may assist the judging panel, but applicants should not incur undue expense in presenting their applications.
* Please submit a short promotional dvd for your business if you have one.

JUDGING CRITERIA
The independent judging panel is drawn from the private and public sectors, comprising eminent people with international business experience.
The judges will focus on:
* The quality of the applicants’ application;
* The degree of innovation and overall quality of the applicant’s business strategy;
* The value and composition of business achieved and the ability to sustain growth;
* Applicants with a proven track record of successful performance;
* Applicant’s demonstrated corporate social responsibility, corporate governance and ethics;
* The overall company commitment to the development of Australia Korea business.
The judges may chose to make a site visit at a mutually convenient time to the premises of the Semi-Finalists or seek further information from the applicant by way of a teleconference call.
NOTIFICATION
Semi-Finalists will be notified by Tuesday, 17th August 2010.
If cd’s are not provided by applicants, semi-finalists for the 2010 awards may be asked to make a contribution to assist with the preparation of a short video on each finalist company (estimated at KRW 500,000). If this is the case, the finalist company will automatically receive AustCham membership for 2011.
Semi-Finalists will be expected to have a representative(s) in Seoul on the evening of Thursday, 28th October 2010, to accept the awards (if successful) at the AustCham Australian Business Awards Gala Dinner.
The winner of each Award will only be known on the night as the envelope is opened Oscars style.
NOTES
* Applicants may apply for more than one category;
* Applicants cannot be government agencies;
* Sponsors of a Business Award cannot lodge an application for the category they have sponsored;
* Applicants do not need to be AustCham members;
* The judges reserve the right not to issue an award if there is not a satisfactory applicant, or to make an award for a category other than one under which the applicant has applied.
CONFIDENTIALITY
Information provided in this application will be used solely for the purpose of judging, and will be treated as “strictly commercial-in-confidence” by the organisers of the AustCham Australian Business Awards.
None of the information will be published without the permission of the applicant. All copy to be used for media purposes will be cleared with the applicant before publication.
PUBLICITY
AustCham will prepare a high quality Event brochure of the 2010 Awards. The participants will be given copies of the Event Brochure on their table at the event. In addition, press releases will be issued to all major media.

APPLICATION FORM - NOTES
1. Before completing your response to the questions in the application form, please refer to the Category Definitions and Judging Criteria outlined in the Applicant Guidelines above, and which are also available from the AustCham website.
2. Should your business be short-listed by the judges for an award category, the judging panel may send you additional questions or request an interview. This additional information will assist the judges in making a final decision. The Judging Criteria are outlined in the Business Awards Applicant Guidelines which can be accessed via the AustCham website.
3. Please specify currencies when noting financial amounts.
BUSINESS AWARDS GALA DINNER
The Australian Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AustCham) G20 Australian Business Awards 2010 Gala Dinner will be held from 6.30-10.30pm on Thursday, 28th October at the Grand Hyatt Seoul Grand Ballroom. This is a black tie event, including a tantalizing four course menu with Australian influences, quality Australian wine and lively entertainment.
All are welcomed to attend the AustCham G20 Australian Business Awards 2010 Gala dinner.
